Mindful Meditation & Massage – working with MIND

I’ve recently been working alongside Peter Maguire, an experienced Mindfulness teacher, piloting some self-help sessions with clients at Tyneside & Northumberland MIND. We’ve worked with several user groups across the charity & our sessions have been well received, with clients taking away a few pointers to use in their daily lives.

So what’s it all about? Well, mindfulness is the practice of becoming more aware of your surroundings, your thoughts, feelings & emotions. We spend a lot of our time going through our day on ‘auto-pilot’ & mindfulness teaches us to slow down & really focus on the moment. The massage element focuses on Trigger Points & how we can understand what our muscles are telling us through pain signals to the brain.

Combine the two & you’ve got a great way of helping people reduce their stress, anxiety, pain & discomfort.

We hope to be bringing more of these sessions to MIND clients in the near future. Watch this space! 🙂
