Groundhog Day!
February 5, 2021So…here we are again. Lockdown number 3. It’s early February & I’ve been hunkered down since just before Christmas, doing what’s required of me, not going out out, just out to get supplies. Keeping myself to myself, running mainly with some cycling when the snow & ice permits! How’s it going with you? Climbing the walls yet?
Technically, I’ve been able to work throughout this current lockdown, like the previous ones. However, I made a conscience choice to close. The words of my professional association’s Chair struck a chord with me in the latest guidance update from the STO (Sports Therapy Organisation). He basically said that “just because you can work, does it mean you should?” I took the decision not to, for a while anyway, until I felt that the infection rate was decreasing & vaccines were being rolled out to those close to me.
Well, it’s that time I guess. I’m now ready to open my doors wide & see folk again….well kinda!
If you’re in need of some general maintenance Sports Massage, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer as close contact services are still not permitted. This goes for anyone in my industry, Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, Sports Massage Therapists, none of us are able to do these yet.
What we can do though, is help those in severe pain & those who’ve injured themselves. If this is you, then please get in touch, we’ll discuss & assess whether hands-on treatment would be appropriate.
Suggested medical conditions would be:
- unbearable pain levels,
- inability to perform daily activities (personal care, dressing etc),
- inability to sleep (affecting normal function),
- inability to work
If determined that a face to face appointment is necessary, then we’ll conduct it in accordance with all the covid-secure measures we’ve been using for the last year.
- As much detail about your condition will be taking prior to the meeting, to minimise contact time,
- Pre-screening for Covid19 signs & symptoms, including temperature check upon arrival,
- Full PPE to be worn by myself (IIR face mask, gloves, apron), face mask to be worn by you,
- Full clean down of all surfaces, ventilation of room between clients (30min minimum time between).
I hope that makes it clear for you about what I can & can’t do. If you’re in any doubt just get in touch. I’m more than happy to continue giving advice & sharing tips. That’ll never change.
Right then! I’m off to watch another episode of ‘Deadliest Catch’ or maybe ‘Married at first sight’ Gawd! I really need to get back to work!!!
