I DO NOT WORK IN A MASSAGE PARLOUR!…

June 29, 2020

…And while we’re at it I’m also not a “Masseur”! Both these descriptions / terms are deeply insulting to myself & my fellow¬†musculoskeletal specialists. Our industry has worked tirelessly over the last few decades to gain professional & protected status similar to Physiotherapists, Osteopaths & Chiropractors. Yet here we are….

The Government’s latest announcement has effectively lumped all soft tissue work conducted by Sports Massage Therapists, Soft Tissue Therapists, Sports Therapists etc, into one group that includes massage parlours! This demonstrates a complete lack of understanding on their part & is more than insulting.

They’re more than happy to allow the masses to congregate on the beaches & in the street outside Weatherspoons, but won’t allow one on one treatment in a risk assessed, hygiene controlled, sanitised environment, where I’m wearing surgical grade masks, gloves & an apron! It’s madness I tell you……grrrr!

Anyway, if you haven’t already guessed, I’m having to postpone the re-opening of business until we get the go ahead from¬†my professional association, the Sports Therapy Organisation.

Apologies to my lovely clients who had already booked in for July, you’ll have 1st choice on new slots when I eventually do get to re-open.

Until then, keep well, keep safe, & keep moving. Movement is medicine!
